The Moonlight Madness Parade of Lights was an amazing event!! We arrived downtown an hour before the start of the parade and the streets were already lined for blocks. Eager children, dressed in holiday clothes, Santa hats and reindeer antlers beaming with anticipation. Generations of families gathered together for the event as friends greeted each other with smiles and warm hugs. Passing the corner of Main and Trinity, the smell of hot cocoa wafts through the air. “Would you like some cocoa and a peppermint stick?”, a cheery volunteer asks as I pass by. It warms the heart to see a community come together

The downtown Decatur streets were bustling and the stores were open for business late, to accommodate holiday shoppers. This event seems to grow larger each year. This year, 115 lighted floats traveled the path to the delight of all who came to see. Floats with carolers singing holiday tunes, snow machines, happy faces of community sports teams, schools and businesses, all coming together to celebrate the holiday season.
