Decatur Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

Snow was falling and holiday music filled the air in downtown, Decatur on Tuesday, as the holiday season kicked into high gear. The Decatur Chamber of Commerce, hosted the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, downtown. Santa greeted children with a smile and a cheery, Ho Ho Ho and a lap to hear each child’s Christmas wishes. Stepping thought the falling snow, and into Santa’s Village, the Decatur Eagles cheerleaders helped kids to fill bags with Reindeer food, make Christmas tree ornaments and put their bells on. Saving the best for last…. letters to Santa were written and mailed on the spot!!!

Hot cocoa with marshmallows, sprinkle and whipped cream, served along with holiday cookies were welcome treats! The tree was lit, carolers sang, and dancers danced, all to commemorate this magical time of the year.

Victory Church Live Nativity and Christmas Tree Lighting

Victory Church continued the Christmas celebration with a Christmas Tree Lighting and Live Nativity. The kids had a great time, playing with friends and getting dressed up and ready for the performance. Meanwhile, crowds gathered, listening to the beautiful voices of the the Victory Choir, singing Christmas songs and indulging in cookies and hot cocoa with all the trimmings.

I love seeing the live nativity every year! What a glorious scene. The kids of Victory Church, play the parts of Mary and Joseph, Shepherds, wise men and don’t forget the animals….During the live nativity, the choir sang hypnotic songs to the glory of God. A petting zoo and carriage rides, rounded out the event for the excited families.
