Every year the big challenge for cover shots is the Welcome to Wise section. It hangs around all year so I always want something that rocks!

The whole idea was that a world traveler had seen the best of best places but found nirvana when he saw the Wise County Courthouse.

The fun part of the shoot was dodging rock and water trucks on FM 730. The set up was rather easy, since I knew I wanted the hard, gritty look in the end. I shot hard light from camera right from two sb900’s, and just waited for the ambient to get right!

Everything came together pretty easy this year. A visit to the Decatur High school drama class yielded all the props, and my in house world traveling reporter, Brandon Evans fit the bill for the subject perfectly.
