What came first

April 29, 2011

Class has begun. I decided to do my homework along with my class. First up — eggs! It just so happens, I had the assignment Thursday to go record a feature leading into the Chicken Coop Tour, which is happening Saturday. Bingo!

Don and his wife were exceptional hosts and about as candid as anybody can get. It’s no wonder they are on the Chicken Coop Tour. A little tough in the middle of the day with the hard light, but I think we pulled it off when Don was demonstrating the difference between store bought eggs and his country fresh yolks.

Very simple photo — the texture and the framing of the hands makes the photo. The yellow of the bright vibrant yolk immediately gets your attention and then the weathered lines of the hand holding it complement it greatly. The sidelight provided via SB-900 gave enough light to the edge of the egg to make it totally stand out and separate it from the contents of the egg.
