Epic Road Trip_Moab, Utah Part One
June 30, 2023
There is just something about a road trip with the right people that are all on the same wavelink that creates a mystical experience. Lisa, Ray and I had just that experience on our Recent trip to Moab and Arizona and New Mexico. What started out as a nine day trip grew to 14 by the end, what a magical journey. After a brief stop at the Cadillac Ranch in Amirillo, Texas, we continued to Canyon De Chelly in Arizona for a total of a 900 mile first day. Our goal was to wake up the next morning in a different Universe, well… the universe didn’t change, but the 60 Degree jacket wearing weather and the amazing boulders surrounding us was a far cry from the 102 temps and terrain in Sanger, Texas.
Next night was tent camping at Arrowhead mystical canyon in Page Arizona.Something I hadn’t done in a while, but found the night air of the desert very Invigorating.
Its really hard to get up for sunrise shoot, Hike all day and then stay up all night shooting stars, but we did get a chance to shoot a twighlight and a little night photos one evening before going back to the camp and collapsing!
Next… while we were waiting on our time spot into the slot canyons of antelope Vally, We set out on a hike of Horseshoe Bend In Page Arizona, I had visited it many years ago but wanted to share with Lisa and Ray. As any photog knows, your time allowance doesn’t allow you to be in all the places at golden hour, so we did the best we could with the light and focused a lot on smaller tighter images that we could control the light! and… as my good friend Skip says, ” sometimes you have to drop the camera and burn it into the emulsion sheet of the mind ”
Next…. We go to one of my two favorite places in the world, The slot Canyons at Arrowhead campground. Stay tuned for part two of the epic vacation, and we will take you on a photographic journey through one of the most amazing places on earth.
