Unearth Your Authentic Self

December 12, 2011

Can you feel it too?  One minute you feel pushed, the next you feel pulled.  One minute you’re okay, the next you’re not.  One minute our world feels chaotic, the next it feels peaceful like a river.  These days sleep is restless and interrupted multiple times in a single evening. One minute we’re snoring like a freight train and the next we’re wide awake with our minds going like a whirly-gig.  Our moods ride a perpetual conveyor belt of emotions, and we go from feeling everything to feeling nothing.

Clearly my life is not dull and many of you know this as you witness me running around Wise County like a wild boar; and my guess is your life isn’t dull either.  You’re trying to shuffle through December with ten dollars left in your pocket on Christmas morning and hopefully a credit card bill you can pay off before the Fourth of July!  You want to make everybody happy including the children who ring bells in front of Wal Mart.  Let’s be realistic about all this giving.  You just can’t do it all. So while you’re smiling and shopping, remember to choose wisely; your choices do matter.

Also, maybe it helps to remember, we all have our personal dramas, chaos and energies to manage on a daily basis and no man is an island.  We are all aware that somehow the month of December seems to inflate life to near unmanageable proportions!  We’re all juggling situations, circumstances, issues and where to be next.  So let’s be kind to one another when we meet in the parking lots and hallways of the shopping world.  Let’s be thoughtful when we gather with friends and family.  Am I the only one feeling this lack of Christmas spirit?  Am I the only recipient of rudeness and lack of decorum?  Perhaps we could consider this thought.  The more joy, zip, sparkle and sense of humor we have in our lives, the better it is for all of us; including our families, our friends, our community, our county and our world.  The joy, the zip, the sparkle, the sense of humor ~ all the ingredients for a sweeter life experience.

So where have you buried your authentic, fun loving, happy self?  Where, oh where has your zip gone? Is it time for an exhumation?  Is it time to reclaim your radiance and up the amperge on your sparkle?

As for me, the shine is on. I’ve kicked the grayish goo to the curb and I’m plugged into frisky, sassy and happy!   So watch out – you just might need a new pair of sunglasses – there’s a new glare in Wise County!
