They were running

November 5, 2018

State Cross-country meet in Round Rock, Texas was a little different for many reasons this year.

I wiped the crust from my eyes at 5AM Saturday morning after shooting two games of football Friday night and getting done and asleep by 1 AM, sounds a lot worse than it really is. basically you run on momentum till the last race and then work images all the way home.

I was accompanied by Messenger sports editor, Reese Waddel, Veteran shooter Mack Thweatt and my wife and shooter Lisa. We arrived 10 minutes into the first race we were covering, the 1A race wich Slidell was participating. We all scramble to get in position somewhere along the finish line, fighting the crowds along the fence line for position.

The first reason this trip was so awesome… I got my keeper shot from whole event right off the bat, It wasn’t our guys and will never see ink but, in my personal sports best folder.# 5

#2 reason, All races are back to back and we were done in four and a half hours and on our way home.

# 3 reason With three shooters the coverage was a ton easier with everybody in different spots on field, means less running across course.

#4 We had two teams and a individual metal, always more fun when you get the jubilation.

#5 the weather, aside from the wind was perfect, and believe me when I say it has been much worse.

All in all it was the most pleasant cross-country state shoot iv’e cover to date. Congratulations to Decatur boys and girls teams, thanks for the ride.
