State Ready!

June 2, 2009

Every year for the last five years I’ve done portraits of all the track stars of  Wise County that qualified for the state track meet in Austin, Texas.

Every year try to do something different, whether in the studio or outside with nature as my backdrop.  Every year it continues to get better and better, although a healthy  task to say the least, the self gratification level is second to none.

Probably the greatest thing about this shoot, is that I get to know the kids, and the passion for what they do very well.

I’ve come to realize something over the years, that is not so much my ability behind the camera, but more so the passion that the subject puts out, and have it come across the sensor.  This year the theme was The Art of Track  Aside from the cleanup of the messy studio, I believe it to be one of the best shoots yet!

This turned out awesome I love the way that you put the pick of the whole Alvord girls team holding Travis that was my favorite part.

this was by far the funnest photo shoot i have ever got to set up or be apart of. it was worth all the work in juggling schedules, listening to joe say “work it” and the destruction of four decatur track uniforms. ACK!!!!

most of all, nothing of this size works if you dont have good subjects, and this picture is proof that bianca is one of many great students at decatur that makes our job worth more than any pay!

The messenger pics were great but on the slide show from state on Friday, Kailey Watkins was in the 800 relay and she is the only one who does not have one picture on the JustPHOphun slide show. disappointing for a grandmother not to see her on there too.
