Standard angle?
December 15, 2010
NFR random thought.

It’s all about the angle but occasionally everything lines up and the un-standard works. 99.9% of the time all the timed events work better if shot from head on as the animal and contestant come toward you. I was fortunate to get to shoot from behind the bucking shoots ( straighten ) at the finals all performances but two, when I got caught up in the photo well so I had to make the best of it,and with a little luck, slow shutter and great color composition … it worked.
Steer wrestling has become one of my favorite rodeo events to shoot and this shot reminds me of my favorite story quote of the year:
“This is really not that hard of a sport, basically its just jumping off a horse and tackling farm animals.”
