Small Town, Big Life!
October 15, 2009
As fall rolls around again, (has become my favorite in Texas) the festivals, and fall harvests are in full swing. This past weekend, strolled back to Greenwood,Texas, home of my favorite fall harvest. Not necessarily my favorite because I lived and raised four boys there, but this is one of those towns that you read about in a distant land that you just wish you could visit. It’s the place where time makes no difference on this weekend, and not much any other time of the year. It’s the place where everybody knows your name, and your kids names, and their kids names. There’s the Greenwood grocery ,famous for their homemade pies, and hamburgers, friday night “pickin and grinnin” catfish dinner, and just good old-fashion fellowship. The arts flow like wine here, everything from quilting to woodcarving, to arrow making can be found here at the fall harvest and annual arts show. It’s also home to the rowdiest domino hall I’ve ever been in. Has it’s own museum, with history dating back to the mid 1800’s. Greenwood also has one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in the state, and a live hand pump water well right in the middle of town.
Simplicity is defined here! These guys know how to live large!
Makes my job easy as a photog, because moment shots happen by the moment!
