Redwoods 360
October 12, 2021
The one place I could never get enough of is the redwood forest in Cresent city, CA. On my first trip i shot for three days before dropping my camera to my side because I had finally found something I could not do justice to with a photo. Trying to capture the grandeur of this place in all of it’s beauty was futile. several more trips got the same response, they where ok photos but in person the giants were jaw-dropping to say the least. For a greater experience in 3d check out this link.
This summer I wanted to share the Redwoods with my Wife, Lisa and step-son Ray. Lisa being a virtual tour photographer, we put our photographic skills together to create a self portrait amongst the giants. I added the lighting and composition and Lisa added the know-how to tie it all together in a virtual tour, as if you are walking through it. When we first discussed going to this adult play land and knowing Lisa’s abilities and my epic failures in the past, the first thing we planned was how we were going to shoot it. On our fourth day of hiking we found what we called the epic spot to show the circle of life in the Jedediah Smith Redwoods state park.
