Patriotic rain!
September 12, 2009

As people from all over the world remembered 9/11 today, Wise County joined in in the remembrance as well. After rain threats all morning, five minutes before the memorial took place at the Wise County Veterans Park the bottom fell out of the sky. Nobody seemed to mind too much, they just flipped their umbrellas open. After all it was something Wise County hadn’t seen much of in a while.

I sure didn’t mind, I mean saturated colors, red, white and blue umbrellas, great light, a little water for abstractions, and muted pastel backgrounds at f5.6., it was a visual made to order.
On a more philosophical level, it was as if the initial blast of rain slowly feathering out to a mist, was synonymous with peoples thoughts and emotions of the tragedy that occurred on that day at the towers. I don’t think the mist will ever stop, but maybe someday as the years wear on, the sun will poke through again.
