Oh Deere!
October 27, 2009

Decatur High School Tractor Team has won the National Tractor Competition again with their John Deere. What an amazing accomplishment this is for a group of very gifted kids whose canvas is a chunk of metal, and their brush is a air gun, but all artists in their own way.
Speaking of art: I always get a excited when Rick Elmore, the tractor fixin’ teacher calls to tell me how well the kids have done this year. This guy is generally up for anything, with a get it done, let er’ rip, we can handle it energy that makes this a total blast to shoot. All he ever says is “what do you need Duty?”
So I get a call from the Tractor show in Indianapolis, ten minutes after the win was announced and all I hear is this loud shrill “we won, we won.” It was Ishley Elmore. Felt eally honored that she would take the time to call personally, but that’s just the kind of personality she has, and the same for the rest of the team, that’s why they’re winners.
Photographically it’s not hard to make a good photo of this kinda group, the energy usually makes it for you, get the lights right, control the background, and rock and roll!

Thanks for the great pics of our kids! My son was really excited about getting to do a Joe Duty shoot. His feet hasn’t touched the ground yet, everytime he ‘s asked about winning the title he gets to relive that day.
Thanks for all you do!
