Let ‘er buck!

Oh yeah 2009 rodeo season is winding down, and with that brings a run for the money as cowboys from all over the United States compete to try to wind up in Las Vegas, America for the National Finals Rodeo. Along the way, there are several stops spread in towns all over the United States, one such town is Pendleton, Oregon. Pendleton is home to a unique rodeo that has been happening for just a little less than a century, what makes it so unique? Well I don’t know yet, but by this time next week, I will be able to answer that, as I will be covering several local cowboys, and some not so local, photographically.
I’ve heard one of the things that sets it apart from other rodeos across the land, is the fact that it is performed all on grass, and it has been going on for 99 years, they’ve got to be doing something right!

Speaking of doing something right Jay Craddock a businessman and resident of Bridgeport, Texas will be making the trip to Pendleton. Craddock, a longtime roper and cowboy, says this could be his year as he is currently standing as one of the top five competitors in his event.
I will be following several competitors from our area, including Trevor Brazil, and the Cooper Boys, from the Wise County area, and help to cover the event for the East Oregonian.
You can follow the local talent from the messenger website, or go to Post from Pendleton, where you can find photos and news from one of the top five rodeos in the nation.
More to come from rodeosville……..

Joe Duty has made a great impression on Pendleton and Eastern Oregon. We’re pretty sure we don’t want him to go back to Texas.
