Notes Imaging USA
February 5, 2025
It was my first rodeo @imagingUSA
For some reason due to shooting schedule, travel cost, and location, for some reason it just never worked out. This year being 40 minutes from my house at the city known as
Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, no excuses!
In the past, I had discounted the trip saying ” I can just go online and shop for what I want or go to local Camera store. ”
Wrong, it was kinda like the client that don’t know what they want till they see it! With hundreds of venders from all over, two years of questions either from lack of research or just lazy, was answerd in four days.
Let’s talk about the speakers included in the take-out sessions included in full access pass. Our keynote speaker, Shola Richards Blew it away! The POSITIVE energy that this guy exhibited was off the charts, Genuine energy that left you walking on air! Check out his live presentation, you won’t be disappointed
.
Moving on to the vender exhibits, can you imagine the energy of walking into a room with thousands of people all with like minded energy, MINDBLOWING!
First order of business find a LR classic plugin for keywording, the daunting, vein of my existence. With over 700,000 keeper images on file, trying to find a rodeo image for a client that I shot 10 years ago is a full day. Enter EXCIRE, after two demos and a year of research, not to mention the discount of the show, Sold!
Next on the vender agenda, Capture One. For several years I have used the amazing Camranger, a wireless tethers system. For obvious reasons, shooting a rodeo or football game, you don’t want to be dragging a 15 foot cord that will bond you with your subject in a non – favorable way. Like the other I had research Capture one for a couple of years. But with the addition of IPAD support and the blazing speed, shooting live, and show special, NO BRAINER! I am not discounting the Camranger 2, because it has worked for me for years.
I think the next appreciation for me was the live demos by many of the venders like Adaroma, Capture one, and Tethertool These are the guys that are confutable with the quality of their products. There was many more showing off their backdrops and lights with amazing models! The one of those that sticks out to me was Johnny Creative, a cool photographer with a great look and personality that you cannot not take this guys image, although felt kinda weird asking to shoot his image instead the gorges lady in front of the backdrop.
Let’s talk about Adaroma, these guys were doing demos for the whole time by some of the best in the photography industry. Got to meet one of my photographic idols after watching him on adorama tv for a couple of years, Seth Miranda, you don’t forget this guy after watching his demo, I have nicknamed him ” Red bull ” Check out his site, you decide.
I will be taking a lot of new stuff to our next rodeo and western – lifestyle class in May.
Many thanks to PPA for bring us this amazing venue, I look forward to next year.
Last shout out to local camera stores, Arlington Camera, Bill and Emilio, also to Eugene and Scott at Competitive Camera, amazing job on the Booths guys! I have done business with both of these guys for 30 years.
