How long has it been …

…. Since your last abstract? Well that’s too long!

Sometimes you get up early, you get to the shoot, but what you thought might be there, was not. I find that I enjoy this in a strange way, I mean if what you imagined was there was there every time, there would be no challenge.

Decided to do something on the cross country teams.  These guys and girls seem to get lost  in the 2 a day shuffle, just because football is a religion in Texas, doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of young athletes working just as hard as the big guys!  Unfortunately cross country is not the easiest thing to get a hard-hitting dramatic shot at.

As the  light became taller I tried several different angles, a lot of panning (use this technique in a lot in cross country to give the motion effect) these guys  wore me out just watching!  Again I imagined a lone runner coming down a backlit concrete hill with three more distant runners way in the background, blurred and out of focus, light provided for the runners from the side, via a flash, but just could not get the sun to cooperate, and go where I told it to go!  All in all I think the top photo worked pretty well to show how hard these guys work, when most of us are sleeping!
