Gone fishing
November 5, 2010
Things aren’t always what they seem, even as much as we would like them to be, so we had to adjust. This year’s soil section cover illustrates that very well.

As a group we started talking about waterfalls, in Wise County the middle of August, yea right. then it hit me, I remembered shooting this scene in middle of winter. So the section covers soil and water issues in Wise County, all I have to do is find the Norman Rockwell stand ins, and the biggie, water in the middle of nowhere dead summerish.
My old buddies at Rhome volunteer fire department stepped up, after the initial reaction of ” you want to park a fire truck where and shoot water where, are you nuts?” they figured out that by parking a truck within a 100 feet of creek, we could shoot water up and over, it would look just like a actual watershed somewhere in the world that gets rain in summer.
My models Clayton and Muttly did a superb job and came complete with fishing pole, overalls and hat, what else could you ask for?
Thanks to everyone that participated to pull off one of my favorite cover shots yet.
