Going to the Show

October 21, 2020

After leaving the news group, two years ago, I was concerned I would never shoot the NFR again. Working for the media, I never had to worry about credentials. The editors would say ” go ” and credentials were there. I knew I wanted to continue to shoot my passion, rodeo, so the pursuit for my PRCA card was on! Two months, several hundred miles and 20 performances later, I was a card-toting, PRCA rodeo photographer.

From the beginning, my goal was to shoot the NFR again.  I just never thought it would come this soon. When it was announced that the show would be moved to Globe Life Field, in my backdoor, that cinched the desire.

Over the past year, the cowboys and cowgirls, rodeo chairmen and fans have welcomed myself and my wife, Lisa, with open arms. I would like to give a huge shout out to photographer buddies I have made along the way of my 18 year photojournalism career. A huge thank you to good friends, W.T. Bruce and Bob Click, for endorsing me and signing my card and  to Kay Miller for my ring evaluation! I would like to give a very large shout out to my editor at PRCA, Carol Lawrence for answering my non-stop questions and all of her direction and professionalism. Most of all would like to say thanks to my Wife for her never-ending support and hard work. Lisa has become an amazing rodeo photographer and has a goal of getting her PRCA card in 2021 season.
