The blown out look is a result of yet another happy accident. When shooting events I generally always shoot on aperture preferred auto, and use the +or- comp to add or subtract exposure.  Really works great except when you forget to zero it back after using.  I had shot some really reflective stuff just prior to this one, (none of wich I liked and was deleted) so dialed in +2, so the result is a image two stops overexposed in a regular situation.  Actually liked this one after I got through with it in post, even with the blowed out uniforms.
