All that jazz!

May 8, 2009

Okay, sometimes you just fall in love with a particular place. That place can be anywhere, a forest, a landscape or a townscape in this case. Had spotted this particular location at the music fest on Main Street in Fort worth a couple of weeks ago.

You know, there’s something about alleys, or for that matter weird things that draw photographers to it like a magnet, this was love at first sight for me!  The first time I saw it was in daylight, and that feeling that there’s something photographically here, came over me.  Not that this particular photo would not stand alone by itself architecturally, but it drew the dark Knight of the movie world out in me!

I believe this to be a masterpiece in the working, not that I’m done with it yet, but sometimes all the stars align and the photographic gods come into place to present you with a certain situation, such is the case. The shot came after the first break of a set that the band Johnny Reno was performing at the Scat Club one particular Thursday night.  Johnny agreed upon request to make a haul up the alley to take his portrait, infatuated by this guy after listening to them for an hour, and even more so as I heard him coming up the elevator playing his saxophone, just to hear how it sounded in that tiny space. Only regret that I had was only one choice of camera lens and flash to try to complete this, next time big soft box!
