A different kind, but no less still a portrait!

I got a call that the tiger farm in Bridgeport, Texas had acquired four lemurs that they were taking care of.  In order to capture these little guys, I had to go in the cage and hang out until they became comfortable with me, not much unlike a studio portrait or a candid people shot.  A portrait in my book is still a portrait whether it’s people or animals in that the technique is pretty much the same.  I have to develop trust and build a relationship with the subject in order to capture its character in print.  The biggest difference I found with this little guy, was his speed and me being ready when the time came that I saw the shot that I wanted!
