For the first time in years I wont be attending, but the lead in was cool, four great faces, and excitement in the eyes always brings a great shot! Four young lady's from the Northwest Texans relay team made this one candid in the moment shot!

Challenge of photographically documenting that is that kinda seems to all run together over the years. so what to do? Change it up, a 10.5 mm fisheye can bring you eye candy in a new way, depth and perspective of the unnorm, giving a sense of place but making the subject seem bigger than life.

Being a reflection aficionado, I have shot reflections on just about every type of surface known until I found the dark waters of the bayou in Orange, Texas! I could not take my eyes off the water long enough to look at the other scenery, it was the most intriguing reflection I have ever witnessed, nothing short of a pool of chrome in motion!
Then imagane seeing this come into the frame.....
Yes it's back again, Youth fair 2012! Always a great place for me to spend a lot of time looking, laughing, and taking images, what could be better!
Youth fair always provides a mixture of moments, portraits, more moments, abstracts and just a general overall look at youth who are doing something besides consuming virtual entertainment. Beginning Monday I will be on the scene again for the 10th year, this is one event for me that never gets boring, take a look back at yesteryear!
]]>Picked up a tip the other day about the Decatur middle school purchasing somewhere around 800 Ipads, one for each student, wow!
I knew when I heard about it that it had much potential, problem was I wasnt totally on my game the morning to shoot it. The phrase "fake it till you can make it!" came through. Stumbled around shooting bits and pieces, nothing really rocking my boat, then one of the young enthusiastic lads flipped the pad around to show his face, Ah a idea was born!
Always love shooting the kids for their creative energy, this day they were my teacher once more! Wonder if I can get all 800 in a frame when it comes time?

The Piano was out of tune, the acoustics left something to be desired but I still like it!
Got a call about this set of ninety three year old women with a band, yes I said a band, they call theirselves the " Merry Widows" kind of excited to hear this in the beginning, I found much more than a band. These ladys not happy with just sitting on the front porch, continue to live life till they don't! Hell I hope I can still hear at their age!
I think time has ceased to be a issue for the young of old, so it seems that that just enjoy where they are at at the time.
I listened to the reporters interview with them, they would respond to each question with a slow but enthusiastic answer, mostly like they were answering from the past because at the end of each answer they just smiled.
Sometimes in a story you get more than you bargain for in some form, for me this day, it was all about living the moment!

A different kind, but no less still a portrait!
Got a call that the tiger farm in Bridgeport, Texas had acquired four lemurs that they were taking care of! In order to capture these little guys I had to go in the cage and hang out until they got comfortable with me. Not too much unlike a studio portrait or a candid people shot. A portrait in my book is still a portrait whether it's people, or animal in the technique is pretty much the same, developed trust and built a relationship with the subject in order to capture its character in print. The biggest difference with this little guy was the speed and being ready when the time came and I saw what I wanted!
