The challenge of light

Have to say that the ability of light to make or break a photograph never ceases to amaze me. Went to Oklahoma City this weekend with son Cody to shoot a rowing regatta for a friend. Upon arrival the visual was less than inspiring to say the least. Okay, so we did arrive midday — horrible light (actually no such thing but golden light was a long way off) so make the best of it today, do the recon, start over in the morning!

Next day, long glass! Midmorning light and water — what else is there to say? The sun lights from a 45° angle and the water reflects back upon the subject. All I had to do now was wait on the emotion.

When they say that “everything will look better in the morning,” I think they're talking about photography — in this case they're absolutely right!
